Note: This is not to shame anyone, but is merely to satisfy my own curiosity.

Hi everyone,

Why do you guys prefer phpbb2 over the current phpbb3? What benefits does using phpbb2 give you?

Sincerely,

RA

From my own point of view - I spent several years modifying my phpBB2 board to just what I needed. Most of the modifications I made would be lost during an "update" to phpBB3 with so much of the content based on those mods being lost. I had no desire to move to phpBB3 which has a far more complex administration side to it and now at 73 years of age and other things I am working on I am sticking with what works and served me well for all these years.

An understandable sentiment. I'm young, and even I wouldn't want to have to practically redo an entire board.

Edit: You're a former team member. Nice.

I was still on the team as a moderator into the early days of release version of PHPBB3 and did all the updates from my phpBB2 board to phpBB3 (On a backup version of it of course icon_biggrin.gif ) I left the team at around the same time as Drathbun (owner of this board). I realised then just how much of my time I had been giving up to the team..

15 years and lots and lots of work! With changes think it scales much better than phpbb3

I just found this. I don't know why this didn't come up when I first searched. It even has the same title and everything, lol.
