another problem: When I try to open "Go to Administration panel" the redirection to "../phpBB2/login.php?redirect=admin/index.php&admin=1&sid=XXXXX" doesn't work. Any idea?

I'm not sure. Is the redirect incorrect? Do you get a blank page?

it's not blank only the header is loaded - the rest is missing.

I was tricking a little bit with the 'includes\page_tail.php' file.

Code:
//
// Show the overall footer.
//
$admin_link = ( $userdata['user_level'] == ADMIN ) ? '<a href="admin/index.' . $phpEx . '?sid=' . $userdata['session_id'] . '">' . $lang['Admin_panel'] . '</a><br /><br />' : '';

//$template->set_filenames(array('overall_footer' => ( empty($gen_simple_header) ) ? 'overall_footer.tpl' : 'simple_footer.tpl'));
$template->set_filenames(array('overall_footer_01' => ( empty($gen_simple_header) ) ? 'overall_footer_01.tpl' : 'simple_footer.tpl'));
$template->set_filenames(array('overall_footer_02' => ( empty($gen_simple_header) ) ? 'overall_footer_02.tpl' : 'simple_footer.tpl'));

$template->assign_vars(array(
   'TRANSLATION_INFO' => (isset($lang['TRANSLATION_INFO'])) ? $lang['TRANSLATION_INFO'] : ((isset($lang['TRANSLATION'])) ? $lang['TRANSLATION'] : ''),
   'ADMIN_LINK' => $admin_link)
);

$template->pparse('overall_footer_01');
include( 'templates/Solaris/overall_footer.php' );
$template->pparse('overall_footer_02');

//
// Close our DB connection.
//

Maybe that is the reason?

my minimal solution: I forgot to replace ereg() with preg_match() in
login.php

Now it works with warnings (PHP Warning: preg_match(): Delimiter must not be alphanumeric or backslash in ...)

Later on I will check if the login.php (login_security.php) will work for my forums icon_smile.gif

Perl-compatible regex require delimiters for the expression, unlike POSIX ones. Common delimiters are / / and # # in phpBB2.

Just curious - what are the reasons that you consider upgrading your PHP version for phpbb2?

Very easy: On the webspace where my website is running, you have the option which PHP-Version you wanna use. PHP 5.5.38 and 5.6.40 are still available but aready signed as outdated. To be prepared for the time the php5 is not available anymore I decided to switch to PHP7 and for a lot of reasons I will not switch to phpbb3.

Ah - understand. We are self-hosted so no worries here for those reasons.

To easily replace the encoding parameter in the function htmlspecialchars().
In includes/functions.php add
Code:
// added to fix a bug in PHP 5.5.4 or later for charset cp1252 or ISO-8859-1
function phpbb_htmlspecialchars($string, $flags = ENT_COMPAT, $encoding = 'ISO-8859-1')
{
   return htmlspecialchars($string, $flags, $encoding);
}
With a batch replacement editor, replace all htmlspecialchars with phpbb_htmlspecialchars in all forum files.
